Day ride to Belumut - Somewhere in 2006

It's another one of those don't where to ride to type of rides. Decided to take the usual route 3 to see see look look again. Set off from JB in the morning and headed to Kota Tinggi for breakfeast.

At the usual wanton mee stall at Kota Tinggi. I couldn't find this stall or the surrounding shops and roads anymore after the big flooding. Proceeded towards Mersing after the food and have a short stopover there. Nothing much there as it is only a transit point for many people going to the islands like P.Tionman off the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia. So decided to backtrack where we come from and turn into route 50 at Jemaluang towards Kahang near Gunung Belumut.

Along route 50. Stopped for a leak. To much cornering left and right, my water bag cannot take it.

Approaching Belumut in the distance. See the mountain at the left hand side. The route in takes us through some lowland tea plantations.

Reached the base of Gunung Belumut. It's a recreactional park for the locals who will come in here for picnic and swim in the streams over the weekend. There is a way to trek up the mountain somewhere opposite the stream. We were there during a weekday, very quiet and peaceful.

One of the starting point for trekking up to the summit, 1010 metres above sea level. Didnt stay too long as Joseph had to be back Singapore by late afternoon

Gunung Belumut is the nearest Malaysian mountain that we can do some jungle trekking but not that popular as compared to Mount Ophir in Segamat. Will blog about my treks the next round.
